1. Catering Lead Chef

At The Rooted Table, we’re searching for passionate, detail-oriented Catering Lead Chef who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and takes pride in creating only the most high-quality, visually stunning and delicious meals. Key Responsibilities

Lead & Manage Catering Teams – Oversee scheduling and time tracking, prep, ensuring consistency and quality, and managing kitchen flow. Guide chefs and prep teams to uphold The Rooted Table’s high standards. Contribute to Rooted’s values of collaboration by training, mentoring and disciplining, when necessary.

Menu Creation & Recipe Development - work closely with the founder to bring Rooted visions and recipes to life!

Execution & Quality Assurance – Create stunning menus for our weekly corporate catering clients, maintain presentation, portioning, and flavor consistency for all events.

Event Coordination – Work with the team to execute seamless catering services for events of all sizes.
Ordering & Inventory – Manage ingredient sourcing, stock levels, and minimize food waste.
Problem-Solving & Adaptability – Handle last-minute changes, dietary modifications, and event-specific challenges with ease.

Other tasks as needed
Ensure Food Safety & Compliance – Follow all health and safety regulations (Food Safe Level 1 required, Level 2 preferred).

What You Bring

3-5+ years of experience in catering or high-volume kitchen leadership

✔ Culinary school is an asset.

✔ A creative spirit and a true passion for food, collaboration and hospitality!
✔ Strong organizational skills & ability to multitask under pressure while remaining positive and upbeat
✔ Passion for local, seasonal ingredients and high-quality food
✔ Ability to lead and mentor team members

✔ Experience in cost control, portioning, and kitchen efficiency
✔ Valid driver’s license for off-site event support

2. PERSONAL CHEFS

  1. Location: In our kitchen in Strathcona or in our clients homes across Vancouver.

    Hours: 25-30 hours per week. 

Ideal availability: Sunday-Wednesday or Thursday

Compensation: based on client package, *competitive rates

About the work:

  • Cook for clients on a weekly basis, either in-home or from our east van kitchen.

  • Create menus for clients with various preferences and dietary requirements.

  • Maintain positive client relationships and communication arounds clients’ weekly menus and tracking feedback.

  • Cooking using holistic principles and techniques. 

  • Total scope of work: menu planning, grocery shopping or ordering, cooking, labelling, clean up and client communication!

    You are a stellar candidate if:

    • You are a culinary wizard! You went to culinary school or have lots of culinary experience - 3+ years in a restaurant, cafe or other professional culinary position.

    • You have experience with creating unique, flavourful and beautifully presented foods. 

    • You have knowledge of allergies, sensitivities and therapeutic diets and know how to cook with substitutions - or a willingness to learn! 

    • You are organized with good time management skills.

    • You are adaptable.

    • You have an awesome personality and have a strong customer service background. 

    • You have your Food safe certificate (required).

    * having a diploma in Holistic Nutrition (IHN, CSNN or other accredited program that includes culinary training) is definitely an asset, although not completely necessary.
